I took an intermediate ski clinic out of Eagle Lodge last weekend and had a great time. The ski clinic promises to match you up with like skilled skiers with no more than 3 to an instructor. I had only one other skier join me which was perfect. Andreas was our instructor and he was originally from Germany. To be honest I was a bit skeptical when I first introduced myself to Andres. I had a bad experience a couple years ago when I took a lesson and my instructor had such a strong foreign accent that I could never understand his instructions and so walked away from that lesson not learning anything and feeling very disappointed and $200 poorer.
This was not the case with Andreas. He spoke very well and directed us in a very understandable way even using pilates and yoga terms, which both my partner and I understood and appreciated. His energy was great, always encouraging us on the slightest modifications we were making.
I took the clinic to learn 2 things, how to ski more consistently no matter what the terrain and to gain more confidence skiing in the thicker powder snow vs the groomed runs only. Andreas accomplished both with us. My Skiing experience the next day was great, I felt less intimidated to ski in the heavier snow and actually took some runs I have steered away from in the past. I still need to practice skiing in fresh, thick powder and ungroomed areas, but overall my experience with Andreas and the intermediate ski clinic was great and I am glad I did it.
